We had a very lengthy discussion on the EU directive. With regard to our discussion in private session on COM (2012) 788, a proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the member states concerning the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco and related products, is it agreed that the committee write to the Department of Health and request it to take into consideration the views and observations expressed and to keep the committee updated on the proposal? Agreed. I thank the committee members for their deliberations and I thank Ms Fiona Cashin, our EU scrutiny policy clerk, for her extensive work on this matter.
