I thank the witnesses for their informative presentations. I am not a member of the sub-committee but I have made some notes for Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn for whom I am deputising. I acknowledge the value of the work the groups before us are doing. It is important to roll out a national strategy or programme. I deal with a small number of prisoners who visit my constituency office and the main issues they face are access to housing, social welfare benefits and medical cards. I presumed a programme was in place to address these issues for prisoners prior to release and I am surprised to learn this is not the case.
