Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children
Quarterly Update on Health Issues: Discussion with Minister for Health

The Minister did not respond to some of my questions. I will remind him of them. With regard to the reports of a €900 million cut in the health budget for 2013 and the projected further loss of more than 3,200 staff across the health service, I was citing the response the Minister gave me when I stated that nursing floors do not apply. That was in the reply I received to question No. 21 relating to mental health.
Again, perhaps the Minister would take on board the proposition relating to rare diseases. It would be a terrible miss given that we only have a chance every 14 years to hold the EU Presidency. It is something that would have a massive impact.
