Public Accounts Committee
Health Service Executive - Review of Allowances
4:30 pm
Mr. Barry O'Brien:
No. As we said, we had 41 allowances. We made business cases for 20. Sixteen were existing at the time. We added four in the recent past because of certain legislative requirements in mental health which we needed to meet. At that stage, of the numbers submitted we submitted business cases for 16 and on the remainder we did not submit a business case. The purpose of the business case was to clearly submit the reason we believed the allowances should be retained, and we made those business cases at the time.
