All individuals living in Ireland who hold citizenship of a country from outside the European Union can vote in local elections only. These individuals may vote in a local election regardless of the type of residence they hold, including if they are an International Protection (IP) applicant and have not had a decision on their application.

Following a request made to the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth by the Electoral Commission (EC) on contact information for a number of categories of organisations including Anti-Racism organisations; Gender Equality organisations and Traveller and Roma organisations, the International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) has provided the EC with information relating to International Protection Accommodation Centres.
