248. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if his Department received an application from Galway County Council for the provision of 42 units of accommodation on the site of the old convent in Clifden; if such an application was received, the date of receipt of the application; when a decision will be made on it; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has not received a proposal in respect of the provision of 42 units of accommodation on the site of the old convent in Clifden. I understand that an approved housing body is currently carrying out a feasibility assessment on such a proposal and is liaising with Galway County Council in this regard. If any such proposal is received by my Department, it will be assessed in the normal manner.
