Further to the Programme for Government’s commitment to regulate clamping, I announced the publication of the Vehicle Clamping Bill 2014 on June 9thlast. Under this Bill it will be the function of the National Transport Authority (NTA) to regulate clamping activities in places where clamping is operated, and to provide for matters relating to the establishment and administration of a two-stage appeals process. The Bill provides that, among the activities for which the NTA may regulate, is the form and content of information provided by electronic or other means to the public in relation to clamping activities in any particular place.
