To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the efforts that have been made by him or his Department to lobby the Vatican to put pressure on the four religious orders that ran the Magdalen laundries here to contribute to a redress fund for survivors of abuse; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Ambassador of Ireland to the Holy See has discussed this matter with Holy See officials on a number of occasions. A written communication has also been sent via diplomatic channels to which a response is understood to be forthcoming.
