To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the total amount spent on advertising by his Department and each agency under his aegis in 2013; if he will provide a breakdown of the amount spent on each of TV, radio, print, outdoor, internet and social media platform advertising; the amount spent on advertising agencies; if he will provide the information in tabular-readable form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is responsible for two Votes – Vote 28: Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Vote 27: International Cooperation. There are no agencies under the aegis of my Department.
Advertising undertaken by my Department relates mainly to notification of changes to passport and consular fees, public office opening hours, and occasional notices concerning employment, grants, and other matters, including Irish Aid activities, which require communication to a national audience. The information requested by the Deputy on the Department's headquarters advertising from 1st January to 31st December 2013 is set out in the following table.
