Question 577: To ask the Minister for Health if he will provide the name, position and annual salary awarded to each of his special advisors; if he will provide details of any request made for an increase above the special advisor pay cap from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and the amount of the increase sought. In respect of Mr Sean Faughnan, an amount of €112,672 was initially sought representing a salary of €92,672, (the maximum of the Principal Officer - Standard scale) plus an additional €20,000 in recognition of the additional costs arising for Mr Faughnan in accepting a short term Dublin appointment given that he lived in Galway. A total salary of €80,051 was approved by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform in this case.
There have been no salary increases granted since the two individuals took up their positions.
