Question 235: To ask the Minister for Health the number of consultant cardiologists in the public health service here; the hospitals in which they work; his view that this is an adequate number per capita; his plans to deal with this shortfall and a timeline for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The latest figures available from the HSE's health service personnel census (29 February 2012) show that there are 45.32 WTE consultant cardiologists working in the public health service. I have asked the Executive to address the other matters raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
