Question 137: To ask the Minister for Health the number of consultant neurologists in the public health service in Ireland; the hospitals at which they work; if he considers this to be an adequate number per capita; his plans to deal with this shortfall and a timeline for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The HSE Clinical Programmes Directorate are currently developing appropriate models of care to ensure the delivery of safe and effective services across epilepsy, stroke services and neurology outpatient services. This programme of work is ongoing and will inform the most appropriate structure, staffing and organisation of services.

With regard to the detailed information sought by the Deputy, as they are service matters, they have been referred to the HSE for direct reply.
