Question 18: To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will consider coordinating with the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government and transfer ownership of the empty harbour court building owned by the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company into the ownership of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for amenity use; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy asked me a similar question regarding this building in June 2011. My response at the time was that I was not aware of any proposal to transfer this building and this remains the case today.

Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company is a State commercial port company established and operating pursuant to the Harbours Act 1996-2009. Section 15 of that Act states:

"A decision by a company to acquire any land or to dispose of any of its land (whether by sale or the grant of a lease) shall only be made by the directors of the company."

Therefore, this is a matter for the Directors of the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company and it is not one in which I have any role.
