Question 1035: To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his view that he or any agency funded by him who own properties in office complexes in which a management company is in place, should take an active role in the running of such management companies including the appointment of a nominee to the board of the company in order to protect the investment of tax payers' money. The Office of Public Works (OPW) arranges the procurement of office and other accommodation required for the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and State funded bodies under the aegis of the Department. In addition rental agreements for premises are entered into by individual State funded bodies.
Since the ownership of these buildings is not vested in the Department or the bodies under its aegis the most appropriate body to consider the Deputy's proposal would be the OPW.
