I wish to inform the Deputy that not all State appointments concerning agencies, boards, committees, etc. under the aegis of my Department are open to the direct choice of the Minister. Many appointments are, for example, prescribed by legislation or set out in terms of reference and, consequently, such appointments may be restricted to the nominees of certain bodies or members of various professions, occupations or organisations.
Bearing this in mind, the information requested by the Deputy is set out below.
