Question 92: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when he expects the investigations by Dóchas Centre visiting committee and the Inspector of Prisons into the reported decision of the Irish Prison Service to force the early release of a person (details supplied), are expected to conclude; if the recommendations of these inquiries will be published; and in advance of these reports the steps he will take to ensure that arrangements for care in the community have been planned for all mentally ill prisoners prior to their release. I have been advised by the Director General of the Irish Prison Service that he has commissioned an internal investigation into the case of the person referred to in the question. It is too early in the process to give an indication of when the investigation will be finalised however I will consider what further appropriate action should be taken once the findings have been notified to me.
