Question 194: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of citizenship applications received by his Department annually since 2005 to date in 2010; the number of successful applications; the timeframe for processing applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The table below sets out the number of applications for certificates of naturalisation received and the number of certificates of naturalisation issued in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and to date in 2010:-

All valid applications are dealt with in chronological order as this is deemed to be the fairest to all applicants. The average processing time from application to decision is now at 26 months.
