Question 409: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills if she will confirm that all persons correcting State exams in 2010 are teachers who have not taught the new syllabus in the subjects they are correcting; the number of retired teachers still correcting State exams; if a teacher corrects in one year, if they are automatically reappointed for the next year; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The State Examinations Commission has statutory responsibility for operational matters relating to the certificate examinations including organising the holding of examinations, determining procedures in places where examinations are conducted including the supervision of examinations and making arrangements for the marking of work presented for examination.
