Question 873: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the progress made on the programme for Government proposal to initiate a study in consultation with Fáilte Ireland, LEADER companies, agricultural associations, county enterprise boards and rural tourism operators to devise a new plan for farm-based rural tourism, including the development of farm-based niche visitor attractions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. This Department's recent progress report in relation to the Programme for Government can be accessed on the Department of the Taoiseach's website at http://193.178.1.117/attached
While this Department is not responsible for initiating this study, under the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013, funding of €16.66m is being provided towards diversification into non-agricultural activities and €45.40m will be provided towards activities to encourage rural tourism.
