Where the law stands at the moment is a good point. One enjoys a presumptive right to anonymity. It is a right that can be taken away from one by the High Court in a civil action if a good case is shown against one - not just an allegation but a reasonably substantive case. It is a right that can be lost in the context of criminal proceedings where the gardaí have reasonable suspicion to investigate a possible crime.
