The Light Tactical Armoured Vehicle, the RG32M, entered service in 2010 to enhance the Defence Forces' protected mobility capability and has been employed extensively both at home and overseas, supporting the Defence Forces across a range of operational roles including patrols, convoy protection, force protection and Quick Reaction Force tasks. They have been deployed on multiple UN and EU peace support missions, where their combination of mobility, protection and adaptability has proven particularly valuable in complex and austere environments.

These vehicles are now approaching end of life, and are being withdrawn from active service, and are due for replacement. No decision has yet been made regarding the manner in which these vehicles will be disposed. Options for the disposal of the Light Tactical Armoured Vehicle fleet are being considered by the Department.
