To ask the Taoiseach further to Parliamentary Question No. 286 of 16 July 2026, to report on the work of the “working group to evolve the evidence base on the potential costs of compliance arising for the State from established EU energy and climate targets”; to outline membership of the working group; the dates on which this group met since its inception; to provide the minutes of these meetings; to report on findings to date; and to provide the reports published; and to provide details of the KPI and other metrics used to evaluate the work of this group. The Department of the Taoiseach, through the Senior Officials Group which supports the Cabinet Committee on Climate Action, Energy and Environment, has coordinated work across Departments on potential costs arising for the State in reaching compliance with EU energy and climate targets for the decade to 2030. The work is of a technical nature and is revisited as new emissions, energy and carbon price information becomes available. The group includes representation from six Government Departments and has met on eight occasions since October 2024 . It has not published any documents. As with similar issues under the remit of Cabinet Committees, policy responsibility remains with the relevant line Departments, in this case primarily the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment.
