I can confirm that I am aware of the vacant Director of Schools post in the education and training board (ETB) referred to by the Deputy.

The seeking of the sanction of the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation is a requirement of the arrangements for the filling of such posts. Engagement between my department and the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation is currently ongoing in relation to the provision of this sanction.

My department has kept the ETB informed of the position in this matter.

I can assure the deputy that my department will continue to seek this sanction and will liaise directly with the education and training board.
