As the Deputy is aware, the Disabled Drivers & Disabled Passengers Scheme (DDS) provides relief from VRT and VAT on an adapted car, as well as an exemption from motor tax and an annual fuel grant. The Fuel Grant scheme was introduced under Section 81 of the Finance Act 2015 and is governed by Statutory Instrument 635 of 2015.
I am advised by Revenue that the full range of statistics requested is not readily available in the timeframe available. The table below outlines details that are readily available i.e. the number of claims paid in relation to the Fuel Grant scheme along with the total fuel grant repayment amount to those applicants for the years 2016 to YTD April 2026.
