The primary scheme to support solar PV in the non-domestic sector is the Non-Domestic Microgeneration Scheme, administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland on behalf of my Department as part of an overall suite of business energy supports.
The scheme has been very successful in allowing businesses a rapid approval approach to reducing electricity costs and emissions. From 2023 to 2025, the scheme was provided an allocated budget of €42 million. As of the end of 2025, €23.3m of this budget has been expended and an additional €22.5 million of commitments has been made through grant offers. Therefore, to the end of 2025, the full allocation made to this scheme has either been spent or is committed to be spent.
A yearly breakdown of grant expenditure is provided in the attached table.
| Year | Total Grant Expenditure |
|---|---|
| 2023 | €0.26 |
| 2024 | €9.20 |
| 2025 | €13.85 |
