GPs are self-employed practitioners, most of whom hold a contract(s) with the HSE for the provision of health services on its behalf. As of October 1st, there are 2,576 GPs contracted to provide services under the GMS Scheme, and there are a further 634 GPs that do not hold a GMS contract but hold at least one other contract with the HSE for the provision of health services.
As the question relates to service matter, I have asked the HSE to respond to the Deputy directly in regard to the number of HSE contracted GPs in County Meath, as soon as possible.
