The Health Research Board (HRB) is the largest funder of health and social care research in the state. In 2024, the HRB was allocated €58,055,000 by the Department of Health which represents 0.254% of the total Department of Health expenditure for 2024.
The Deputy may wish to consult the HRB’s financial statements for the year 2023, publicly available on the HRB's website. The financial statements capture the breakdown of expenditure by award. The HRB’s Annual Report Part 1 2024 contains a list of all awards given out in 2024 and can also be accessed on the HRB's website.
The 2024 financial statements (HRB Annual Report Part 2 of 2024) are currently being audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General, as per normal processes, and will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas thereafter.
