The following bodies operate under the aegis of my Department: Adoption Authority of Ireland; Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission; the National Disability Authority; the Office of the Director of Authorised Intervention, Tuam; the Office of the Ombudsman for Children; Oberstown Children's Detention Centre and Tusla. My Department also has remit over the Decision Support Service which is a function of the Mental Health Commission, and the HSE Specialist Community Based Disability Services.

A number of these bodies were only established during the period since 2015 or came under the aegis of my Department during that period. The Director of Authorised Intervention, Tuam was established on 4 October 2022 by the Institutional Burial Acts 2022, with the Director appointed on 22 May 2023. The Decision Support Service was established on 26 April 2023.

The transfer of policy, functions and funding for specialist disability services from the Minister for Health to the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality is provided for by the S.I. No. 688 of 2022 Specialist Community-Based Disability Services (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2022 was signed by Taoiseach Micheál Martin on 13 December 2022 with an operational date of 1 March 2023.

It is important to note that while IHREC is under the remit of my Department, their staffing numbers are reported directly to the Department of Public Expenditure Infrastructure Public Service Reform and Digitalisation.
