On the 16th October last, I, together with Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity, Christopher O’Sullivan TD, announced that the Operational Group led by SECAD has been approved to deliver the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) project ‘The Arable Coast Environment’, on the theme of enhancing habitats for biodiversity in an arable environment, along the coast from South Cork to Wexford. Joint funding of €7 million in total from both Departments has been allocated to cover both administration costs and payments to participating farmers.

EIP projects involve a range of actors including farmers, researchers, ecologists and community groups, coming together to trial innovative solutions which address challenges on Irish farms.

The European Innovative Partnerships (EIP) initiative is co-funded by the European Commission and the Irish Government under the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027.
