Ireland is required to annually report emission data for a wide range of air pollutants and other substances released into the atmosphere. This is the responsibility of the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment.

The work is conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The data provided supports the work of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP) in addressing well-known environmental problems such as urban pollution, acidification and tropospheric ozone formation arising from classic pollutants, such as ammonia which is associated with organic manures.

The movement of organic manures across the border between the north and south of Ireland is tracked on the Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES). My Department does not conduct modelling in this area.
