My Department is the competent authority for implementation of the Animal Breeding Regulations (Regulation (EU) 2016/1012). This Regulation provides a single legal framework for the rules applicable to the breeding, trade and entry into the European Union of breeding animals of the bovine, porcine, ovine, caprine and equine species and their germinal products.

Article 27 of the Regulation provides for the authorisation of third parties to carry out performance testing and genetic evaluations and the named organisation is authorised by my Department in accordance with this provision. The annual work programme of the named organisation is subject to review by my Department.

I am satisfied that these provisions are in compliance with the Competition Act 2002 (as amended), and the General Data Protection Regulation.
