The current Interdepartmental Competition for Higher Executive Officer (HEO) positions requiring fluency in the Irish language was launched in November 2023. To date, five appointments have been made from the resulting panel. An additional 19 candidates remain available for invitation to the interview stage, should further vacancies arise. This group comprises 13 female and 6 male candidates.

Originally scheduled to close on 30 November 2025, the panel has now been extended and will remain active until March 2026.
