The current Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations, as amended, allow for fare-carrying taxis to operate in bus lanes during the course of business.
On this basis, a taxi is only permitted to drive in a bus lane if working or carrying a fare-paying passenger. Taxis must carry prescribed branding and be fitted with a taxi meter, printer, and roof sign.
