284. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the reason for the delay in issuing visa stickers to atypical workers in the fishing industry who have been approved for a visa; the reason the visa stickers are not issued at the same time as the visa approval is being confirmed; when a visa sticker will issue to a person (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 284 and 285 together.

I understand that the Embassy in Jakarta, where the Visa sticker issues from, have been experiencing some ICT problems. They will endeavour to issue the Visa stickers for the persons referred to by the Deputy as soon as possible.

Queries in relation to the status of individual immigration cases may be made directly to my Department by e-mail using the Oireachtas Mail facility (inisoireachtasmail@justice.ie), which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Questions process. The Deputy may consider using the e-mail service except in cases where the response is, in the Deputy’s view, inadequate or too long awaited.
