116. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the person or body responsible for the eradication of Japanese knotweed if the source is on one property and is encroaching on a neighbouring property; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26070/20]

Invasive alien species legislation is contained within the Wildlife Acts and the European Communities (Birds & Natural Habitats) Regulations, SI 477 of 2011.

Legal responsibility for the eradication, containment or management of invasive alien species resides with the landowner.
