138. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if he will reconsider the decision to remove geography as a subject from the core curriculum in secondary schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [49608/18]

As part of the rollout of the new Framework for Junior Cycle, Geography was one of five new subject specifications that were introduced to schools in September of this year. There are no plans to make the subject mandatory in schools.
