The Health Service Executive funds a significant number of voluntary organisations to provide health and personal social services on its behalf, the vast majority of which have charitable status. These voluntary organisations are funded from a discrete subhead within the HSE Vote, and the 2010 outturn for this subhead amounted to â¬2.385 billion, as set out in the Revised Estimates Volume for 2011. In addition, a further â¬7.5 million was provided through the HSE's National Lottery scheme.
Details in relation to grants to voluntary organisations are set out in the Annual Report and Financial Statements of the HSE. Information in relation to 2009 can be accessed at www.hse.ie/eng/services/Publications/corporate/AnnualReport2009.html. The Annual Report for 2010 is due to be submitted to me by 21st May, after which it will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas , and subsequently published on the HSE's website.
