My Department's role in implementing the national disability strategy is set out in the outline local government sectoral plan under the Disability Bill 2004, which was published with the Bill. A copy of the sectoral plan addressing national objectives and guidelines for access to local authority services and built facilities, as well as to heritage sites managed by my Department has been placed in the Oireachtas Library.

I will establish a monitoring committee in accordance with section 46 of the Disability Bill when enacted, to monitor and support compliance with its requirements regarding the employment of people with disabilities in public bodies for which I am responsible.
