I have received notice from Senator Aodhán Ó Ríordáin that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to outline the justification for the non-phased closure of St. Thomas’s school, Clonshaugh, County Dublin.

I have also received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to outline when work will commence on the new school for Ballintemple national school, County Cork.

I have also received notice from Senator Colm Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht to outline the plans being put in place to mark the significant historical events which occurred in Ireland between 1918 and 1923.

I have also received notice from Senator Maria Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to allow rheumatoid arthritis as a qualifying medical condition under the long-term illness scheme.

I have also received notice from Senator Victor Boyhan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to report on the closure, in January 2017, of 12 hospital beds at the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dún Laoghaire.

I have also received notice from Senator Tim Lombard of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to outline the budget and the timescale for the roll out of the schools summer works scheme 2018.

I have also received notice from Senator Frank Feighan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State at the Department of Education and Skills with special responsibility for higher education to address the capital funding requirements for St Angela’s college in County Sligo in light of increasing student numbers and the consequential demand for additional accommodation.

I have also received notice from Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government to outline the cross-Border measures that are undertaken when implementing emergency co-ordination preparations for, and responses to, adverse weather conditions in Ireland.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Ó Ríordáin, Buttimer, Colm Burke and Byrne and they will be taken now. I regret I had to rule out of order the matter submitted by Senator Boyhan on the ground that it is a repeat of a Commencement Matter raised on 21 February 2018. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
