Vote 31 - Transport (Supplementary)
(25 Nov 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: ...RSA operates it. However, we could be at cross purposes here. It is something that we will take up with the RSA, but if the issue here is that the RSA has inadequate funding to retain these 34 driving instructors, the committee is duty bound to ask. If it is a funding issue, I assume discussions are ongoing between the RSA and the Department on this.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Impact of Covid-19 on Driving Instructors: Unite the Union (18 Mar 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: There are some 1,300 approved driving instructors, ADIs, in Ireland and, given the average, that means there are some 80,000 people in the middle of their hours. Is that reasonable?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Impact of Covid-19 on Driving Instructors: Unite the Union (18 Mar 2021)

Kieran O'Donnell: I thank all the witnesses for attending today's engagement with the committee. We will be following up with the approved driving instructors stakeholders' forum and Mr. Fred Reilly and will ask them to come before the committee, which they have indicated they would be interested in doing, or to give us a detailed submission. This would be in terms of our deliberations on putting forward a...
