Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Child and Family Agency Investigations (28 Jan 2016)

Sandra McLellan: There are many complaints on an annual basis, and I am sure these complaints are fully assessed and dealt with in a proper manner. There do, however, seem to be some discrepancies when it comes to follow-up on outcomes that may be deemed unsatisfactory by the complainant. There appears to be no suitable or accessible procedure of appeals to follow for those with unsatisfactory outcomes....

I wish the Members here continued happiness into the future.

Social Housing: Motion [Private Members] (26 Jan 2016)

Sandra McLellan: I intend to speak on the amendment tabled by my colleague, Deputy Ellis, rather than the Fianna Fáil motion, although I support the overarching theme of that proposal and I welcome the opportunity to speak on this important issue. The basis of this motion is to highlight the need for social housing and to address the homelessness crisis. The crisis, which is a damning legacy of the...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children: Wellness, Well-being and Mental Health: Discussion (21 Jan 2016)

Sandra McLellan: I welcome Mr. Breslin and Dr. D'Alton here this morning and thank them both so much for their presentations. Wishing no disrespect to Dr. D'Alton, on this occasion I want to highlight what others have said, that it is important that we have role models, particularly for young people. Since Mr. Breslin is so well known, he is an ideal role model. Many will tune in here today just because...

Topical Issue Debate: National Monuments (14 Jan 2016)

Sandra McLellan: A bit of it.

Topical Issue Debate: National Monuments (14 Jan 2016)

Sandra McLellan: I have raised questions on Moore Street ever since I took my seat in the Chamber. I have put questions to the Minister ever since she took office. She has repeatedly absolved herself of responsibility for anything outside 14 to 17 Moore Street. It is time the Minister took a stand and listened to the people. We do not want another shopping centre. As Deputy Joe Costello said, the fight...

Topical Issue Debate: National Monuments (14 Jan 2016)

Sandra McLellan: It is baffling that in the second week of the centenary year the issue of Moore Street is still on the agenda and has not been dealt with in an appropriate manner. As demonstrated by the occupation that took place last week, an occupation the Minister herself described as extremist with what was termed "questionable motivations", and the legal battle that is currently making its way through...

Hospital Emergency Departments: Motion (Resumed) [Private Members] (14 Jan 2016)

Sandra McLellan: Regrettably, I feel this is a topic that does not need much by the way of an introduction. The crisis in our health system appears to have reached new levels.
