The new total contributions approach will do nothing for the men and women retiring before 2020. Many of those retiring between 2012 and 2020 would be entitled to a full pension under the total contribution system but aare lready or will be on a reduced pension. Also under the Nation Pensions Framework the disregards were supposed to be changed to credits with only a limit of 10 years credits to be used. Disregards are not counted which could mean that women would still be losing out on contributory pensions due e.g: A woman who worked for 22 years and had a disregard of 20 years would still be on a reduced pension because the 20 years disregard would not count.
