I thank the witnesses for coming in. Social care workers have raised concerns about the use of security personnel. They report that security personnel are stepping in to restrain children before a full therapeutic intervention can be carried out. The deployment of untrained security staff is having a serious effect in the context of the ability of social care workers to perform their duties. There are reports of security staff removing social care workers from rooms against their will. There are concerns that while staff need be protected, there is uncertainty among security workers as to when intervention is required in these settings. What training is given to security personnel from Tusla before they are deployed in these extremely challenging settings?
