What would trigger a recession is that this affects the world and not just Ireland. Let us think of what is happening in India where the price of gas used for cooking has gone up four times. As a result, the people in Delhi are leaving their jobs and going back to rural areas because they cannot afford to live. That is going to produce a recession in India. India buys our goods and Brazil buys our goods. This is a shock to the world. Looking back, my memories of the oil price crisis in the 1970s are of a pretty difficult decade.
