I thank the witnesses for being here and for the submissions they made. I will look at this live issue and build on some of the answers that they have already provided.

I will start with An Garda Síochána. There is much frustration, concern and confusion about what the prosecutorial and investigative picture is here. It seems there are more barriers to investigating and prosecuting crimes that happen online than in the physical world. I want to get under the hood of that. Can the witnesses help us to understand the difference between traditional policing and policing online crimes? Why do we not see prosecution for these crimes at the same scale as in-person crimes? Is it an issue of lawlessness online or differences in policing?
