What are Committees?

Committees in the Oireachtas are where TDs and Senators discuss amendments to government legislation, scrutinise public expenditure and organisations, and take evidence from expert witnesses and civil servants.

'Joint' committees and subcommittees contain members of both the Dáil and Seanad. 'Select' committees and subcommittees contain only TDs.
