My Department does not provide grants to individual performing arts practitioners. Under the Arts Act, 2003, the Arts Council has primary responsibility for the promotion of the arts at all levels throughout the State. As Minister, I cannot intervene in the Council's funding decisions as it is statutorily independent in that function.
