Question 403: To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the reason semi-State bodies are reverting back to the English language names, for example Bord na gCon is now widely known as the Irish Greyhound Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9501/12]

At the outset, it should be noted that my Department has no statutory responsibility in relation to the naming of individual public bodies.
However, in the context of promoting the use of the Irish language generally and, in particular, when agreeing statutory language schemes with public bodies listed under the Official Languages Act 2003, I can assure the Deputy that it is my Department's policy to encourage public bodies to use the Irish language version of their name, as appropriate.
