Joan Burton (Minister, Department of Social Protection; Dublin West, Labour)
From 1st January 2011 policy and funding responsibility for FÃS functions in relation to employment and community employment services was transferred to the Department of Social Protection in accordance with the provisions of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010. Matters relating to training and skills development are proper to my colleague the Minister for Education and Skills. As Minister for Social Protection I do not have a role in the administration of individual cases and FÃS remains responsible for the day to day operation of both employment and training initiatives.
