Question 231: To ask the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources if he is developing proposals in conjunction with his EU colleagues for a bank international domain name to address the ongoing problems of spam emails purportedly from financial institutions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The decision to create a Bank top level Internet domain name will be made by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). It is a matter upon which the private sector would liaise with ICANN. My Department has no involvement in any activity regarding such a Top Level Domain name.
